A Message from USBC President & CEO in Observance of Juneteenth

A Legacy of Resilience. A Future We Build Together.

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] June 19, 2026 — Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a defining moment in American history and a powerful symbol of perseverance, hope, and freedom. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth stands as a reminder that while freedom may be delayed, the pursuit of justice, dignity, and opportunity must never cease.

As we reflect on the sacrifices and strength of those who came before us, we are reminded that freedom is not merely the absence of bondage—it is the presence of opportunity. It is the ability to dream, create, build wealth, own businesses, and leave a legacy for future generations.

At the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), we believe economic empowerment is one of the most powerful expressions of freedom. Every Black-owned business launched, every entrepreneur supported, and every community investment made represents progress toward a stronger, more equitable future. Our mission remains focused on advancing the Black economic agenda through advocacy, access to capital, business development, and creating pathways to generational wealth.

This Juneteenth, I encourage each of us to celebrate with purpose. Support Black-owned businesses. Invest in Black communities. Mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs. Advocate for policies that expand economic opportunity. And continue building the institutions that will sustain Black prosperity for decades to come.

For business owners, one of the most impactful steps you can take is to become ByBlack Certified. Certification not only increases your visibility and credibility but connects you to a growing national network of Black-owned businesses, corporate partners, supplier diversity opportunities, and consumers intentionally seeking to support Black enterprises. Join the ByBlack Platform at no-cost at www.byblack.us.

For conscious consumers, your purchasing power matters. I encourage you to discover and support Black-owned businesses through the ByBlack National Directory, the nation’s largest directory of Black-owned businesses. Every dollar spent intentionally is an investment in jobs, families, communities, and the future of Black economic empowerment.

As we honor our history, we must also invest in our future. The USBC Innovation Campus and Corporate Headquarters will serve as the epicenter of Black business innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and economic advancement. This transformational project represents more than a building—it is a lasting investment in the next generation of Black entrepreneurs, business leaders, and changemakers. We invite you to join us in building this legacy by making a contribution to support the future home of Black business excellence. Learn more and donate today at https://usblackchambers.org/usbc-campus/.

The movement continues this October at the 2026 USBC National Conference & School of Chamber Management. We invite entrepreneurs, chamber leaders, corporate partners, policymakers, and advocates from across the country to gather, learn, collaborate, and advance strategies that strengthen Black business ecosystems nationwide. Together, we will celebrate our progress while charting the course for even greater impact.

Juneteenth is more than a historical observance. It is a reminder that our greatest responsibility is not only to remember the past but to shape the future. The freedoms won by previous generations must be protected and expanded through economic opportunity, ownership, innovation, and collective action.

As we celebrate this day of reflection and renewal, let us recommit ourselves to the work ahead. Let us honor our ancestors by building businesses, creating wealth, supporting one another, and investing in institutions that will empower generations to come. The story of Juneteenth is one of resilience. The future of Black America is one of possibility. And together, we will continue building that future.

In solidarity,

Ron Busby, Sr.

President & CEO, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.
