UAB’s Jonah Delange Ties National Field-Goal Lead, Climbs Program Record Book

UAB kicker Jonah Delange has made 12 of 13 field goals through five games, tying for the national lead. His four kicks against Samford moved him to sixth in UAB career field goals as he remains perfect on 72 career extra points.

UAB kicker Jonah Delange is giving “Duh-LONG-uh Range” a growing statistical résumé.

Through five games in 2026, Delange has converted 12 of 13 field-goal attempts, tying for the national lead in made field goals while setting the pace among American Conference kickers.

The 2024 Lou Groza Award semifinalist has made 92.3% of his field-goal attempts and remains perfect on all 12 extra-point attempts this season. His latest four-field-goal performance helped UAB defeat Samford 33-14 and moved him farther up the program’s career lists.

Four Field Goals Against Samford Mark a Milestone

Delange connected from 44, 46, 23 and 26 yards against Samford. His opening 44-yard kick marked the 40th made field goal of his career.

By the end of the game, his career total had reached 43, moving him past Kevin Thomason into sixth place in UAB history.

The four makes tied Delange’s career high and matched the third-highest single-game field-goal total in program history.

He now needs four more successful field goals to tie Matt Quinn and Nick Vogel for fourth place and seven more to tie Swayze Waters for third.

Delange Leads the American Conference

Delange’s 12 made field goals are the most in the American Conference. Through the supplied five-game update, no other conference kicker had made more than seven.

He also leads American kickers in field goals per game, total kicking points, and kicking points per game.

His production includes six successful kicks in seven attempts from 40 to 49 yards this season. He is also perfect on four attempts from 20 to 29 yards and two attempts from 30 to 39 yards.

Accuracy Fuels His Rise Through UAB History

Delange has converted 43 of 51 career field-goal attempts, giving him an 84.3% success rate and UAB’s career lead in field-goal percentage.

From at least 40 yards, he has made 19 of 23 attempts. He has also converted both career attempts from 50 yards or longer, with a career-long kick of 52 yards.

His consistency extends to extra points, where he remains perfect on 72 career attempts.

Delange’s 201 career points place him 10th on UAB’s all-time scoring list and seventh in career points scored by kicking.

The average distance of his successful career field goals is approximately 35.5 yards, illustrating the combination of accuracy and distance behind his production.

Earlier Performance Earned Conference Honors

Delange earned American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week recognition on September 14 after converting all four field-goal attempts in UAB’s 26-20 victory over ULM.

He added two extra points to finish with 14 points in that game.

His four-field-goal performance against Samford adds another standout outing to a season that has already brought him a share of the national lead and a higher place in UAB’s record book.
