PHOENIX, Ariz. — The City of Phoenix is inviting residents, businesses, community organizations and local partners to participate in the 14th Annual Paint Phoenix Purple Campaign, an October initiative focused on raising awareness about domestic violence, promoting prevention and connecting victims and survivors with support and resources.
Paint Phoenix Purple is a community-wide effort designed to encourage conversations about domestic violence and help residents recognize the warning signs of abuse. The City of Phoenix says the campaign is supported by a collaboration of more than 50 community, private and public organizations.
October Dedicated to Domestic Violence Awareness
Throughout October, Phoenix residents are encouraged to participate in Paint Phoenix Purple activities and show their support for victims and survivors.
The City says domestic violence can take many forms and is not always physical. Abuse can include emotional, sexual, psychological and financial control, isolation, threats and other coercive behaviors.
The campaign provides opportunities for community members to learn about the signs of abuse while connecting survivors with support services, educational programs, workshops, support groups and other community resources.
According to the City, Paint Phoenix Purple has become part of its broader domestic violence prevention and awareness efforts, which include community presentations, staff training, resource fairs, youth programming and other activities.
Wear Purple on October 15
One of the campaign’s major opportunities for community participation will be Wear Purple Day on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Residents are encouraged to wear purple and share photos on social media using #PaintPHXPurple to help spread awareness and show support for victims and survivors.
The color purple has become associated with domestic violence awareness, and the City encourages residents to participate throughout October.

The City of Phoenix emphasizes that people experiencing abuse can seek assistance and that survivors should be supported in making their own decisions about their safety and circumstances.
