The Maxwell Football Club has selected Morgan Stanley Wealth Management to develop financial literacy education for high school football players and their families, aiming to help young athletes manage Name, Image, and Likeness income responsibly.
The initiative will focus on financial decisions surrounding NIL opportunities, including budgeting, saving, endorsement contracts, and tax considerations. Its stated goal is to give athletes and their support systems the knowledge needed to plan for financial stability beyond their playing careers.
Preparing athletes for decisions beyond the field
NIL opportunities have introduced new financial questions for student-athletes and their families. Earning income through an athlete’s name, image, or likeness can involve more than negotiating a payment: it also requires understanding contractual commitments, managing money, and anticipating related obligations.
The Maxwell Football Club said the program is intended to address that educational gap before, during, and after athletes’ playing careers.
Mark Wolpert, the club’s executive director, said high school players now face financial opportunities and decisions that earlier generations did not encounter. He described the selection of Morgan Stanley as part of the organization’s commitment to supporting athletes’ long-term success alongside recognizing their performance on the field.
Budgeting, contracts, and NIL income
Planned educational programming will cover budgeting and saving, understanding contracts and endorsement deals, tax considerations related to NIL income, and avoiding common financial pitfalls.
The initiative will also emphasize building financial knowledge for the long term. For families helping young athletes evaluate opportunities, the program aims to provide a foundation for making informed decisions about income and future planning.
The announcement describes an educational initiative. It does not specify particular investment products, individual advisory arrangements, or guaranteed financial outcomes.
In-person sessions and digital resources planned
The financial literacy content will be delivered through a combination of in-person sessions, digital resources, and programming incorporated into the Maxwell Football Club’s existing platforms and events.
Additional details are expected in the coming months. The announcement does not provide a launch date, enrollment process, participation cost, or complete session schedule.
Expanding the club’s educational work
Founded in 1935, the Maxwell Football Club is known for presenting some of football’s prominent honors, including the Maxwell Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, and Bert Bell Award.
Those awards recognize excellence at the college and professional levels. The new initiative extends the organization’s community and educational work to financial preparation for high school athletes and their families.
By focusing on the responsibilities that accompany NIL income, the program aims to help players turn earning opportunities into informed financial choices with value beyond a football season.
