PHILADELPHIA — Missouri running back Jamal Roberts and Georgia linebacker Chris Cole earned the Maxwell Football Club’s weekly awards after standout performances in Southeastern Conference victories, the organization announced Tuesday.

Roberts was named Maxwell Award Player of the Week after rushing for 222 yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M. Cole received Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week recognition after helping Georgia defeat Alabama 20–17.

Roberts Powers Missouri’s Rushing Attack

Roberts carried the ball 34 times for 222 yards, averaging approximately 6.53 yards per attempt, according to the club’s announcement. His two rushing touchdowns helped Missouri secure a conference victory over Texas A&M.

The win moved the Tigers to 5–1 overall and 2–1 in SEC play.

Roberts’ workload and production highlighted his role in Missouri’s offense. He combined a high volume of carries with an average of more than six yards per attempt, giving the Tigers a productive ground attack in the conference matchup.

The weekly honor recognizes that performance as Missouri continues its SEC schedule.

Cole Leads Georgia’s Defensive Effort

Cole earned the defensive award after recording six solo tackles, one sack, and one quarterback hit against Alabama, according to the release.

The junior linebacker helped disrupt the Crimson Tide’s rushing and passing attacks during Georgia’s 20–17 victory.

The Maxwell Football Club highlighted Cole’s closing speed and ability to make plays against both the run and the pass. His performance contributed to a defensive effort that helped the Bulldogs secure the three-point win.

Weekly Awards Recognize Standout Performances

The Maxwell Football Club presents two weekly honors throughout the 2026 season.

The Maxwell Award Player of the Week recognizes overall performance on offense, defense or special teams. The Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week honors outstanding defensive play.

Players do not need to appear on either award’s watch list to qualify for weekly recognition.
