According to a study done by Ephrem et al, entrepreneurs had three times less career regret than employees. It was expected for entrepreneurs to have more regret due to high failure rates and lack of predictability. The likely explanation here is agency and autonomy. People who are self-employed have much more control over their work environment than people working under a boss. At its core regret is about the lack of control you feel in the present, so if an entrepreneur is unsatisfied with their work environment, they could take steps to alleviate their regret while an employee has less control over their working environment.
