What is the Acton Children’s Business Fair?

The Acton Children’s Business Fair is the largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America. This fair provides kids with a platform to showcase their entrepreneurial spirit and test their business ideas in a real-world market setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many businesses will you accept?
We will accept up to 36 businesses for this event.

How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?
Applications must be submitted online. If children are working as a group, they should submit one application that includes each child’s information. No more than three participants are allowed per business.

What if someone else has the same business idea?
Multiple businesses with similar ideas, such as two cupcake stands, are welcome. Market forces will play out naturally, though later applicants will be informed of similar businesses so they can decide how to proceed.

How will the fair be set up?
The fair will be an outdoor event with booths. Each business will be provided with a booth, a six-foot table (shared with one other business), and 1-2 chairs. Tablecloths will not be provided. Electricity will not be available at the booths.

What are the rules?
This event is designed to provide children with an authentic experience of running a business. While parents of younger children may sit in the booth, the children must be responsible for setup, customer interaction, and sales. Parents may assist in filling out the application, but we encourage children to complete as much of the process on their own as possible.

A Legacy of Young Entrepreneurs

The Acton Children’s Business Fair was founded in 2007 by Jeff and Laura Sandefer in Austin, Texas, with the goal of sparking curiosity and entrepreneurship in children. What started with seven young entrepreneurs and 25 attendees has grown into a movement, with over 115 young entrepreneurs and 1,500 attendees in Austin alone.
