Phoenix Friendsgiving campaign connects holiday donors with nine local nonprofits

Phoenix’s Healthy Giving Friendsgiving campaign connects residents with nine local nonprofits that support people experiencing homelessness. Residents can browse wish lists and find places to donate supplies or volunteer.

PHOENIX — The City of Phoenix is asking residents who want to help people experiencing homelessness this holiday season to donate supplies or volunteer through its Healthy Giving Friendsgiving campaign. Nine local nonprofits have shared wish lists and identified locations where they need volunteers.

The campaign is part of the city’s Healthy Giving initiative. Phoenix’s Office of Homeless Solutions encourages residents to give through organizations that can provide meals and supplies while connecting people with shelter, health care and other services.

Rachel Milne, director of the Office of Homeless Solutions, said the city asked its partners what supplies they need most so residents can give items the organizations can put to use. Mayor Kate Gallego said the holiday campaign also introduces residents to groups that provide support year-round.

Where to donate or volunteer

The nine nonprofit partners are A New Leaf, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), The Salvation Army, Phoenix Rescue Mission, Andre House, St. Vincent de Paul, Keys to Change, UMOM and Valley Dogs Rescue.

The city also offers donation and volunteer opportunities at its Safe Outdoor Space and the Turquoise Navigation Center, formerly the Phoenix Navigation Center.

Residents can browse nonprofit wish lists and find volunteer opportunities through the city’s campaign page. City of Phoenix Healthy Giving Friendsgiving
