PHOENIX — Phoenix police arrested a 29-year-old man on Oct. 28 in connection with the death of a woman found in the 5300 block of South 35th Avenue 11 days earlier.
Police said officers took Oscar Ramirez Jr. into custody at a Phoenix residence. He was booked into jail on suspicion of one count of second-degree murder.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage to identify a vehicle they believed was connected to the case. Police said license plate reader data helped detectives identify Ramirez as the vehicle’s owner and establish probable cause for his arrest.
The investigation began shortly after 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 17, when officers responded to a report of an injured person. Phoenix Fire Department crews arrived before police and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Police identified her as Cynthia Saenz, 41. Detectives found that Saenz had sustained an injury and began investigating her death as a homicide. The police update did not specify the nature of the injury.
