Ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms, U.S. Black Chambers CEO Ron Busby Sr. urged voters to weigh how congressional, state and local races could affect access to capital and public contracts for Black-owned businesses.

Ron Busby Sr. called on voters to consider how congressional, state, and local races could affect access to capital, public contracts, and economic opportunity.

Nov. 2, 2026 — On the eve of the 2026 midterm elections, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. President and CEO Ron Busby Sr. urged business owners and community members to vote Tuesday, Nov. 3, and consider how the candidates on their ballots could shape opportunities for Black-owned and other minority-owned businesses. In a statement sent to Habari Entertainment, Busby pointed to access to capital, fair contracting opportunities, affordable health care and education as issues that affect whether businesses can grow and families can build generational wealth. He said the results of congressional, state and local races will also help shape the political landscape heading into 2028.

“Make no mistake: local elections have national consequences,” Busby said.

Busby said the chamber is nonpartisan and leaves candidate choices to its members. He said the organization will continue advocating for policies that expand economic opportunity and support Black-owned and other minority-owned small businesses.

What to check before voting Tuesday

Busby urged voters to research candidates, verify their registration, and confirm where they can cast a ballot. He also encouraged readers to seek out Black-owned newspapers, radio stations and media networks for coverage of issues affecting their communities.

Voters can find state-specific registration information through Vote.gov. Before heading out, check your polling location and hours, review a sample ballot and confirm what identification your state requires. USAGov’s Election DayguideUSAGov

“Our strength is in our numbers, but our influence is in our participation,” Busby said.
