WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A stadium-record kick, an upset-clinching field goal, and a perfect start to the season helped Baylor’s Rhett Armstrong, Wake Forest’s Connor Calvert, and Oklahoma State’s Sam Keltner earn Lou Groza Award “Stars of the Week” recognition for Week 4.

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced the selections on September 29. Presented by the Orange Bowl, the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award recognizes three standout FBS kickers each week.

Rhett Armstrong matches McLane Stadium record

Armstrong delivered three field goals in Baylor’s 23–13 victory over Colorado, helping the Bears win their Big 12 Conference opener.

The sophomore from Monument, Colorado, connected from 37 and 27 yards before adding a late 54-yard field goal. His final kick tied the record for the longest field goal in McLane Stadium history.

Four games into his collegiate career, Armstrong already has two performances with three field goals. His eight field goals this season were tied for fifth nationally at the time of the announcement.

Connor Calvert supplies winning points in Wake Forest’s upset

Calvert’s third field goal provided the winning margin as Wake Forest defeated Louisville 30–27 on the road.

The sophomore from Bend, Oregon, opened the scoring with a 39-yard kick. He later accounted for all of Wake Forest’s second-half points, converting from 35 and 32 yards. Both second-half field goals broke ties and put the Demon Deacons ahead.

According to the award announcement, Calvert’s nine field goals this season have come across three games with three makes apiece. He was the only FBS kicker this season with three games of at least three field goals.

Calvert also had converted 17 of his last 18 attempts, underscoring the consistency behind his Week 4 recognition.

Sam Keltner stays perfect as Oklahoma State ends Big 12 skid

Keltner made four field goals in Oklahoma State’s 41–24 victory over West Virginia, helping the Cowboys snap an 18-game Big 12 losing streak.

The sophomore from Keller, Texas, connected from 47, 30, 29, and 19 yards. The 47-yarder was his longest field goal of the season.

Keltner also made four field goals in Oklahoma State’s upset of Oregon, giving him an FBS-leading two games with four field goals, according to the release.

At the time of the announcement, he was 10-for-10 on field goals, tied for the national lead in makes, and the only FBS kicker with double-digit attempts who had not missed.
