Three Killed, Seven Injured in Shooting at Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Three people were killed and seven others injured, some critically, after a gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls on Saturday afternoon, according to the latest report from city officials.

Twin Falls police received the first report of an active shooter near the restaurant at approximately 2:29 p.m. The newly opened location sits in a busy commercial area near the Twin Falls Visitor Center and Perrine Bridge.

Authorities initially reported at least five people injured, but the Associated Press later placed the number at seven. Officials cautioned that the count could change as investigators gather information from hospitals and interview witnesses. The victims’ names, ages and other identifying details have not been released while authorities notify their families.

The suspected gunman was found dead near the restaurant. Officials have not confirmed whether the shooter is included among the three reported deaths. The shooter’s identity and motive also remain under investigation.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said authorities believe the threat to the community is over.

The shooting created chaos throughout the shopping district as customers, employees and other witnesses fled for safety. Preliminary reports indicated authorities were searching for one or possibly two shooters, including checking a nearby hotel overlooking the visitor center. Police have since referred to one deceased suspected gunman and warned the public against spreading unverified information about the attacker’s identity.

In-N-Out owner and President Lynsi Snyder confirmed that a female employee was among those killed. Snyder said the associate was caring for customers when the shooting occurred.

“My heart is broken,” Snyder said in a statement, adding that the company would mourn alongside the victims’ families.

The Twin Falls restaurant had opened on July 24, approximately one week before the shooting.

The FBI has deployed agents to assist local authorities and established a digital media tip line for people who recorded photographs or videos of the attack. The investigation also involves multiple local and state law-enforcement agencies.

Police closed the area surrounding the In-N-Out Burger and Twin Falls Visitor Center while investigators processed the scene. The visitor center remains closed, while the Perrine Bridge has reopened to traffic entering and leaving Twin Falls. Authorities have asked the public to continue avoiding the immediate area.
