2022 California Classic Summer League: Players Who Stood Out

2022 California Classic Summer League featured the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers out at Chase Center.

Sacramento Kings

Keegan Murray: The #4 pick scored the ball at a very high level. Efficiency shouldn’t be a problem at all in the NBA. 19.7 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 1.3 SPG, 51.1% FG, 43.8% 3-PT, 100% FT (3 games played)

Neemias Queta: Looked stronger and went 100% every play. 7 footer heading into his second year with improvements across the board. 12.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.3 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.3 BPG, 53.3% FG (3 games played)

Keon Ellis: Ellis definitely should have been drafted a few weeks ago (undrafted out of Alabama). Has many attributes that fit today’s game as a role player. 9.7 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.7 SPG, 77.8% FT (3 games played)

Jared Rhoden: Undrafted scorer out of Seton Hall. Solid off the dribble moves/shooting ability. 8.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.0 BPG, 45.5% FG, 83.3% FT (3 games played)

Frankie Ferrari: 26 year old point guard who knows how to run an offense. Productive passing and defensive skills. 6.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 6.3 APG, 1.0 SPG, 100% FT (3 games played)

Matt Coleman: Explosive guard with a quick first step. Looks ready for the NBA after spending last year in the G League. 7.0 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.0 SPG, 60.0% FG (3 games played)

Alex O’Connell: Undrafted wing who can get going in short runs. Spent time at Duke before transferring to Creighton. 7.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.5 SPG (2 games played)

Miami Heat

Nikola Jovic: Had his struggles in the first two games, but erupted in the third. The #27 pick from Serbia has a winning mindset. 11.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 42.9% 3-PT (3 games played)

Haywood Highsmith: Showed off a versatile skillset. Shooting, passing, and rebounding all stood out. 10.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.7 SPG, 48.1% FG, 41.7% 3-PT (3 games played)

Orlando Robinson: Undrafted big man out of Fresno State with NBA skills. Nice looking jumper and solid strength. 8.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, 55.6% FG (3 games played)

Javonte Smart: Shot the ball poorly, but still had his moments. Just like last year, consistency has to be his main focus. 12.5 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 100% FT (2 games played)

Mychal Mulder: Much like Smart, had a bad shooting performance with a few nice baskets. Shooter trying to find his shot right now. 9.3 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, 100% FT (3 games played)

Kyle Allman Jr: Soon-to-be 25 year old combo guard who plays the right way. Has been overseas since 2019. 9.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 6.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, 35.7% 3-PT (3 games played)

Jamaree Bouyea: Undrafted playmaker out of San Francisco.  Very fast off the dribble. 5.7 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.0 SPG (3 games played)

Golden State Warriors

Gui Santos: #55 pick from Brazil with multiple skills. 6-8 forward that can do just about everything. 14.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.0 SPG, 50.0% FG, 40.0% 3-PT (3 games played)

Moses Moody: Didn’t shoot the ball well, but got to his spots. Strong scoring guard going into his second year. 11.0 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.5 BPG, 80.0% FT (2 games played)

Quinndary Weatherspoon: Scored and defended in his one game. Made a difference during his short time last year. 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 85.7% FT (1 game played)

Lester Quinones: Undrafted big guard out of Memphis. Quinones’ quality performance earned himself a two way deal from Golden State. 9.7 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.0 SPG, 35.7% 3-PT (3 games played)

Justinian Jessup: Shooter still hoping to one day play in the NBA. Played in Australia for the Illawarra Hawks since 2020. 8.3 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 100% FT (3 games played)

Payton Willis: Undrafted 6-4 guard who got better every season in college. Played at Vanderbilt, Minnesota (twice), and the College of Charleston. 7.7 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 56.3% FG, 50.0% 3-PT (3 games played)

Dustin Sleva: Versatile forward who can definitely fit in the NBA as a role player. Has spent 4 seasons playing in France. 6.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 80.0% FG, 66.7% 3-PT, 100% FT (2 games played)

Los Angeles Lakers

Paris Bass: Very fundamentally sound player with an accomplished international career. Turns 27 in late August. 12.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.0 BPG, 45.2% FG, 80.0% FT (3 games played)

Mac McClung: Athletic guard with shot creation skills. Will play for Golden State at the Las Vegas Summer League. 13.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.0 SPG, 64.3% FG (2 games played)

Jay Huff: Bouncy big man who runs a polished pick and roll. Too good not to be on an NBA roster this fall. 9.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 1.0 APG, 2.5 BPG, 46.2% FG, 40.0% 3-PT (2 games played)

Cole Swider: Shot the ball at high level from deep and defended multiple positions. Undrafted 6-8 shooter out of Villanova/Syracuse. 11.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 1.0 BPG, 57.9% FG, 60.0% 3-PT, 100% FT (3 games played)
