Things haven’t gone according to plan for Zion Williamson in the wake of getting drafted as the No.1 overall pick in 2019. A series of injuries have prevented him from making the expected impact on the New Orleans Pelicans’ fortunes but he’s still landed himself a max deal of $193 million and is ready to show that he deserves it.

There are expectations that come along with that kind of money and it’s hoped that Zion will be available for at least the better part of next season as he sat out all of 2021/22.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the former Duke star stated he has something to prove.

“I want to prove that I’m a winner, simple as that,” he remarked in quotes cited by Bleacher Report. “I want to win with coach, I want to win with my teammates. The ultimate goal is to win a championship, and I feel like that’s what we’re all striving for.”

Williamson has shown how effective he can be when on the floor; his only problem is staying there.
