New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson sustained a posterior hip contusion during their match against the Utah Jazz, the team announced. As such, the timetable of his recovery is yet to be determined.
Williamson took a leave after an awkward fall in his blocked dunk attempt by Jordan Clarkson late in the fourth. He wasn’t able to return to the match.
His unavailability with Brandon Ingram (concussion protocols) had a major blow on New Orleans’ narrow loss against the Jazz this Sunday, 122-121.
Williamson, who didn’t play for the entirety of 2021-2022 season due to foot injury, finished the game with 25 points and six boards in 30 minutes of play.
