Statement from USBC President on the 15th Anniversary of USBC and Black History Month Celebrations

As we step into the significant milestone of the 15th Anniversary of the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), it is with profound pride and a deep sense of responsibility that we commemorate this year’s Black History Month. This year is not just a celebration; it is a powerful reminder of our enduring mission here at USBC, which is to provide committed, visionary leadership and advocacy in the realization of economic empowerment. Through the creation of resources and initiatives, we support African American Chambers of Commerce and business organizations in their work of developing and growing Black enterprises.

Since our inception, USBC has been the voice of Black businesses. Our journey over these fifteen years has been one of remarkable achievements and persistent challenges. We have grown to encompass over 150 Black chambers and proudly represent 300,000 Black business owners. Their resilience and innovation are the backbone of our community and a testament to the enduring spirit of Black enterprise.

However, as we honor the legacy of the Black leaders who paved the way, we must acknowledge that our work is far from over. Today, our businesses face new challenges, particularly in the realms of Affirmative Action and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. These are not just policies but lifelines that support and nurture diversity in our business landscape. As these critical supports come under attack, USBC stands firmer in its advocacy, recognizing the importance of these frameworks for the continued growth and health of Black businesses.

Black History Month is a time of reflection and celebration, but for the Black community, it extends beyond a month. It is a way of life, woven into the fabric of our daily existence. This month, we honor our history not just through words, but through actions that reflect our commitment to empowerment. Empowerment is at the heart of everything we do at USBC. Over the past 15 years, we’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of support, resources, and community.

As we look to the future, our commitment to uplifting Black businesses remains unwavering. We will continue to build on our legacy of empowerment, connecting Black businesses with opportunities and resources, and celebrating the indomitable spirit that has defined Black enterprise through the ages.

Our 15th anniversary is a pivotal moment to reinvigorate our mission and renew our dedication. We invite our members, partners, and the community at large to join us in this ongoing journey. Together, we will continue to break barriers, forge new paths, and ensure that the voice of Black business is heard loud and clear, today and for generations to come.

In Solidarity and Celebration,

Ron Busby Sr.
