Phoenix Police Investigate Double Homicide Near 16th Street and McKinley Street

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two men early Tuesday morning, October 6, 2026, near 16th Street and McKinley Street in central Phoenix.

Authorities identified the victims as Charles Hendrix, 56, and Jerry Braggs, 64, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to information released by the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded shortly after 4:30 a.m. to multiple reports of gunfire in the area of 1600 East McKinley Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered two adult men suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators confirmed that each victim had sustained at least one gunshot wound.

Emergency personnel from the Phoenix Fire Department responded to provide assistance. However, both Hendrix and Braggs were pronounced deceased at the location.
