PHOENIX — Property owners can learn about participating in Phoenix’s Housing Choice Voucher program during an Owner Open House on Wednesday, October 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Phoenix Housing Department and Arizona Quadel are hosting the biannual event at Memorial Hall at Steele Indian School Park, 300 E. Indian School Road. Staff will explain how the rental assistance program works for landlords and answer questions about participation.
The Housing Choice Voucher program, commonly known as Section 8, helps eligible households afford rental housing. Participating property owners receive a monthly subsidy payment from the city toward a tenant’s rent.
Breakout Sessions Cover Landlord Education and Program Updates
Two breakout sessions will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center, next door to Memorial Hall.
The sessions will cover:
- Landlord education: Phoenix Human Services Department staff will introduce the city’s Landlord and Tenant Program, which provides educational services and information about rights under the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act.
- Section 8 program updates: Attendees can learn about changes coming to the Housing Choice Voucher program in 2027.
Voucher program staff, Arizona Quadel representatives, and employees from other city departments will be available to share information and provide support.
“This open house is an important opportunity for property owners to learn how the Housing Choice Voucher program works, connect with staff in-person, and discover the support available to them,” Deputy Housing Director Elenia Sotelo said in the city’s announcement.
Support for Participating Property Owners
According to the city, the program offers participating landlords monthly subsidy payments, access to a landlord liaison, and guidance from housing specialists throughout the process.
The city also identifies tenant stability and the potential for reduced turnover as benefits of participation.
Light refreshments will be served. Property owners can find additional housing program information through the City of Phoenix Housing Department.
