Rookie Paolo Banchero is determined to prove that he deserved to the number one pick of this year’s NBA Draft. The 19-year-old forward played two summer league games for Orlando and it was enough to convince his new team that he is good to go and does not need more summer league games.
Over the two games in Las Vegas the rookie averaged 20 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Banchero understands that being the top pick of the draft adds extra weight on him and he is prepared to prove the Magic made the right decision by drafting him.
“Like you said, I was number three in the mock draft, so that was my chip all throughout the pre-draft being number three,” he said. “I still have that chip. I just want to go out there and prove why I’m the No. 1 pick every game.”
