DALLAS — Louisville offensive lineman Lance Robinson earned Outland Trophy National Player of the Week honors after playing three positions and helping the Cardinals rush for 397 yards and six touchdowns in a 44–20 victory over Florida State.
The Football Writers Association of America selected Robinson for games played during the weekend of October 10. He is the first Louisville player to receive the weekly honor.
Robinson started Friday night’s home game at right tackle, spent most of the contest at left tackle and also handled a series at center, providing flexibility during one of the Cardinals’ most productive rushing performances.
Three Positions, All 58 Snaps
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound lineman from Camilla, Georgia, played all 58 offensive snaps, according to the FWAA announcement.
His workload included eight snaps at right tackle, 47 at left tackle, and three at center.
Louisville’s coaching staff graded Robinson at 90 percent and credited him with three knockdowns. He also earned ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week recognition.
Behind Robinson and the offensive line, Louisville produced the second-highest rushing total ever allowed by Florida State, according to the release. The Cardinals’ six rushing touchdowns were their most against an FBS opponent in 10 seasons.
Isaac Brown Delivers Career-Best Rushing Performance
Running back Isaac Brown benefited from the work up front, rushing for a career-high 235 yards and scoring twice.
The FWAA reported that Brown’s total was the highest by an FBS player in a game this season at the time of the announcement.
His performance included a 97-yard touchdown run, the longest play from scrimmage in Louisville history and tied for the season’s longest FBS rushing play.
Brown earned ACC Running Back of the Week, giving the Cardinals recognition for both the runner and a lineman who helped create opportunities for him.
Versatility Defines Robinson’s Season
Robinson has started every Louisville game this season, with assignments at three different positions.
He opened at left tackle against Ole Miss and Villanova, then started three games at center before beginning the Florida State matchup at right tackle.
His movement across the line builds on a versatile 2025 season. Robinson started that year’s opener at right tackle before moving to left guard, where he started the final nine games and earned Honorable Mention All-ACC recognition.
With 43 career starts, Robinson was identified in the release as Louisville’s most experienced player.
His college career began at Middle Tennessee, where he played in 2020 and 2021, followed by a season at Houston in 2022. He made his Louisville debut in the 2023 Holiday Bowl before missing the 2024 season because of an injury suffered in fall camp.
Outland Trophy Race Continues
Robinson was already on the 2026 Outland Trophy preseason watch list before earning the weekly award. Louisville has never had an Outland Trophy winner.
The FWAA is scheduled to announce semifinalists on November 18, followed by three finalists on November 24.
The winner will be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN on December 11. The official trophy presentation is scheduled for January 27, 2027, at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner in Omaha, Nebraska.
Established in 1946, the Outland Trophy recognizes college football’s best interior lineman on offense or defense. Ends and edge rushers are not eligible.
The award was created through a contribution from Dr. John Outland, a former University of Pennsylvania All-American who believed linemen deserved greater recognition.
