JustWatch TV will combine free ad-supported movies and shows, digital rentals, and an ad-free subscription within the company’s existing streaming guide.
JustWatch has spent years helping viewers find where movies and television shows are available. Now, the company is preparing to stream some of that content itself.
The company announced JustWatch TV, a new streaming service scheduled to launch in October 2026 across the United States and 11 additional markets.
Unveiled at TIFF: The Market in Toronto, JustWatch TV will offer a hybrid model that includes free ad-supported streaming, individual rentals, and an ad-free subscription option. Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street, and Vortex Media are among the content partners contributing titles to the initial catalog.
More partners are expected to be announced as the service expands.
Streaming Inside the JustWatch Guide
Unlike a conventional standalone streaming platform, JustWatch TV will be integrated directly into the company’s existing streaming guide across web, mobile, and television apps.
Users will be able to discover a title and begin watching without moving to another app. JustWatch says the integration will also allow viewers to access content without creating a separate account for another service.
The approach builds on JustWatch’s existing role as a search and discovery platform. Its streaming guide currently helps users determine whether a movie or series is available through a subscription, for rent, for purchase or on a free ad-supported service.
By adding its own viewing options, JustWatch is moving from directing audiences to outside platforms to hosting content within its ecosystem.
The launch was also reported by Variety, which described the new platform as an advertising-based video-on-demand service with rental and subscription options.
Audience Data Will Shape the Catalog
JustWatch TV’s catalog will be built partly around more than a decade of audience-search data from the company’s streaming guide.
JustWatch says approximately 50 million people use its service each month, generating signals about the movies and shows audiences want to watch—including titles they search for but cannot find on existing platforms.
That information could help the company identify older, overlooked, or difficult-to-access content with demonstrated audience demand.
Viewers will also be able to request titles directly. Those requests are expected to help JustWatch determine which movies and programs it should attempt to add in the future.
The strategy gives the company a potential advantage in an increasingly crowded market: rather than relying entirely on industry projections, it can use existing search behavior to see what audiences are actively trying to watch.

A New Competitor in the Streaming Market
The launch places JustWatch in direct competition with the platforms it has historically helped viewers navigate.
The service will enter a market where audiences increasingly move between paid subscriptions, free ad-supported platforms and digital rentals. By offering all three options in one place, JustWatch TV is attempting to reduce the friction involved in finding and accessing content.
Its free tier will compete for advertising revenue in the growing FAST and AVOD markets, while rentals provide access to viewers who do not want another recurring bill. The ad-free subscription will offer a more traditional premium-streaming option.
JustWatch has not disclosed how its catalog will differ among the free, rental, and subscription tiers.
The company’s launch partners suggest that the initial service will draw from a combination of major-studio films, independent releases, and international television programming.
From Streaming Search Engine to Streaming Destination
JustWatch built its reputation by addressing one of the entertainment industry’s biggest consumer frustrations: knowing what to watch but not knowing where to find it.
JustWatch TV represents the company’s attempt to solve the next part of that problem by allowing viewers to watch selected titles in the same place where they discover them.
Whether the service can stand out will depend on the depth of its catalog, subscription pricing, and its ability to secure titles that audiences cannot easily find elsewhere.
Its decade of viewing-intent data, however, gives JustWatch an unusually detailed picture of what millions of users are already searching for. The company is betting that those signals can help it build a streaming service shaped by demonstrated demand rather than guesswork.
