James Wiseman reacts to his first game since knee injury

Warriors center James Wiseman played his first game since April 2021 when he suffered a knee injury. The former number two draft pick returned to action in a Summer League game against the Spurs.

He had 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks in 19 minutes of play as Golden State defeated San Antonio 86-85 in Las Vegas. “I feel great just to run out there and be out there with my teammates,” Wiseman told Chris Haynes after the game.

“Just grateful I’m out here. I haven’t played in a whole year and a half, so it’s kind of difficult for me out there, but I’m gonna get back to it.”

The player admitted that he did not have the game he wanted to have as he made mistakes. It was more about getting back into the game rhythm.

“The crowd is everything. They got me a lot of energy,” Wiseman said. “But me just coming out here, just taking my time because I haven’t played in such a long time. Getting the reps in on defense and offense. I made a lot of mistakes tonight. I didn’t have the game I wanted to have.”

Wiseman was also asked what were the positives for him in this game. “My movements,” he said. “I was really sharp out there. I was really good with my movements. I was running the floor. My knee felt great. I can’t ask for nothing better.”
