Dolly Parton’s classic comedy Nine to Five has climbed to the top of the weekly movie streaming charts, overtaking Obsession and ending its run at No. 1 following its streaming release earlier this summer.

The latest rankings from JustWatch show a major week for titles featuring Parton and Tim Curry. Four of the five most-popular movies were Nine to Five, Steel Magnolias, Clue and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The surge gives Parton two films near the top of the rankings. In Nine to Five, she stars alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as three coworkers who decide to take action against their overbearing boss. Steel Magnolias, the ensemble drama featuring Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts, also continues to attract streaming audiences.

Tim Curry’s catalog had a strong showing as well. The murder-mystery comedy Clue and the cult musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show both landed among the five leading movies of the week.

Lanterns Takes the Lead on Television

The television rankings also have a new leader. HBO Max’s Lanterns moved into the No. 1 position on JustWatch’s weekly TV chart. Apple TV’s Reacher, Furious, and Ted Lasso were also among the five most-popular shows.

Although Nine to Five won the latest weekly movie race, Obsession still finished the month as the most-popular movie overall. On the television side, Furious and Ted Lasso led the monthly rankings.

The results highlight how new releases and established favorites can compete side by side in the streaming era. This week, nostalgia proved especially powerful as familiar performances from Parton and Curry drove four classic films into the top five.
