Dan Stevens Reunites with Adam Wingard for Godzilla vs. Kong Sequel

According to Deadline, Legion star Dan Stevens has officially signed on for a leading role in Legendary’s forthcoming sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, which is expected to start its production this summer in Australia.

The untitled high-profile project marks the reunion between Stevens and director Adam Wingard after they previously worked together in The Guest. His casting also comes after Wingard recently teased a potential sequel to the 2014 thriller film, following a great fan response to his April Fools’ Day prank.

The upcoming fifth installment to the blockbuster franchise will be delivering a $79.2 million economic boost to Queensland as well as the creation of 505 jobs for local cast and crew and opportunities for 750 extras.

Further details about the project are still kept under wraps, but initial reports last year suggested that it would potentially be titled Son of Kong. It’s unclear if Adam Wingard would be returning as its director or not. The project will once again be produced by Eric McLeod.

The 2021 film was directed by Wingard from a screenplay written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein. It starred Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and more. Despite its simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max debut, it still went on to earn a gross of more than $460 million at the worldwide box office.
