On Monday, WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia for more than four months on drug charges, made a direct appeal to US President Joe Biden for her freedom in a letter passed through her representatives, via OutKick:
“I’m terrified I might be here forever,” she wrote in an excerpt, per ESPN. “I realize you are dealing with so much, but please don’t forget about me and the other detainees … Please do all you can to bring us home.”
During a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Cherelle Griner, the wife of Brittney Griner, said Joe Biden’s silence on her wife’s detainment is “very disheartening” after identifying him as the “one person that can go get her.”
