Star Meat Delivery Inc. is recalling approximately 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat products after federal officials determined the products were produced without federal inspection and carried a false USDA mark.
The recall affects a variety of raw meat products, including cuts of goat, beef and pork. The products were distributed nationwide to retailers and restaurants under the A&D Foods label.
According to the recall notice, the products were produced without the required federal inspection. Federal inspection is intended to help ensure that meat and poultry products meet established food-safety and labeling requirements before they enter commerce.
The products also bear a USDA mark that federal officials say is false. Consumers and businesses should check their refrigerators, freezers and inventory for affected products and avoid selling, serving or consuming them if they are included in the recall.
Retailers and restaurants that received the recalled products should remove them from sale or service and follow applicable recall procedures.
