College Football Playoff Names Tim Frick Chief Financial Officer

Frick has worked with the College Football Playoff since 2016 and replaces newly appointed Cotton Bowl President and CEO Dave Marmion.

The College Football Playoff has promoted Tim Frick to chief financial officer, CFP Executive Director Rich Clark announced.

Frick joined the organization in 2016 as director of finance and business operations. During his tenure, he has overseen the CFP’s daily finance and accounting functions, human resources administration, risk management, contract management and merchandising operations.

“Tim has been an invaluable member of the CFP leadership team, and this promotion reflects the trust and respect he has earned throughout our organization,” Clark said. “His financial expertise and strategic leadership have helped guide the CFP through a period of tremendous growth.”

Frick said he was honored to accept the position as he enters his 11th year with the organization.

“It has been a privilege to support the CFP’s growth, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside our outstanding staff and partners as we build on the organization’s success,” Frick said.

Before joining the CFP, Frick spent four years with oilfield services company Baker Hughes, working in internal audit and corporate finance. He also worked for two years at the accounting firm Grant Thornton.

Frick began his professional career as the business and ticket manager for the Big 12 Conference. He is a certified public accountant and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Oklahoma in 2006.

Frick succeeds Dave Marmion, who was named president and chief executive officer of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic earlier this year.

College Football Playoff Format

The College Football Playoff uses a 12-team bracket to determine college football’s national champion.

The field includes conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams. Notre Dame will qualify for the playoff if it finishes among the top 12 teams in the final CFP rankings.

Four first-round games are played on campus sites. The quarterfinals and semifinals rotate among the Cotton, Fiesta, Orange, Peach, Rose and Sugar bowls.

The 2027 College Football Playoff National Championship is scheduled for Monday, January 25, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
