NABOB and Onyx Impact Launch Creator Mastermind to Build Scalable Black-Owned Media Businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. — May 14, 2026 — The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB), in partnership with Onyx Impact and its Invest in Black Media initiative, has announced the launch of the NABOB Creator Mastermind, a 12-week program designed to help Black creators transition from independent content producers into enterprise-scale media businesses.

The initiative arrives as the creator economy continues to expand, with brands increasing investments in digital creators while also searching for more reliable measurement tools, brand-safe partnerships, and scalable media opportunities. NABOB says those barriers have historically limited access for Black creators despite their outsized cultural influence and audience engagement.

The inaugural cohort will include 25 selected creators who will receive mentorship, infrastructure support, and monetization strategies typically reserved for larger media organizations and agencies.

“The disconnect between cultural impact and capital access remains one of the biggest inefficiencies in today’s media ecosystem,” said Jim Winston, President of NABOB. “Black creators consistently drive engagement and shape consumer behavior, yet lack equitable access to the systems that translate that influence into sustained revenue. This program is designed to bridge that gap—for both creators and the brands looking to partner with them at scale.”

The curriculum will focus on three areas considered critical for advertisers and agencies: standardized measurement, sustainable content pipelines, and brand partnership readiness. Participants will receive training in audience analytics, artificial intelligence tools, cross-platform distribution, intellectual property development, and deal structuring.

Creators will also gain direct exposure to national brands and media buyers, providing opportunities to secure long-term partnerships and revenue streams.

The program will conclude with the Creator Upfronts in October, where participants will pitch integrated media offerings to advertisers in a format modeled after traditional television and digital media upfront presentations. Organizers say the goal is to position creator-led platforms within the same buying cycles and conversations as established media companies.

“Black storytelling has always held the line on truth in America. At a time when our truth, our history, and our culture are being erased and attacked, the Invest in Black Media campaign is key to protecting that legacy,” said Esosa Osa, Founder and CEO of Onyx Impact. “The NABOB Creator Mastermind meets the moment by helping creators not just make content, but own the platforms, data, and deals behind it on their own terms. We’re proud to invest in this work and invite brands, agencies, and investors who claim to care about truth and accuracy in journalism to do the same.”

Applications for the NABOB Creator Mastermind open May 14 and close June 15, 2026. The program is open to Black creators across multiple platforms, including podcasters.
