Kevin Durant the latest example of an NBA superstar who made a trade request to his team. The two-time NBA champion who is regarded as one of the best if not the best player in the league put the Nets in a position where they have to look for a way to trade him.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver thinks that league stars changing teams is a healthy thing as it helps the teams rebuild. However, that does not include cases like that of Durant where a player forces a trade.
“Star movement that is a result of free agency or trades doesn’t bother me at all…It gives players and teams opportunities to rebuild change circumstances (when) it’s not working for the team or the player. I separated that from guys requesting that they get traded,” Silver said, per Brian Lewis of New York Post.
