Seth Tabatznik Releases ‘Watching Over Me,’ a Love Song to an Oak Tree

Folk artist Seth Tabatznik returns with “Watching Over Me,” an oak tree-inspired love song released October 29 through Moth Music.

London-born folk artist Seth Tabatznik turns an overlooked relationship with nature into the inspiration for his new single, “Watching Over Me,” released October 29, 2026, through Moth Music (Mother Of The Heart).

The song follows his sophomore album, Awakening Embers, and continues a series of monthly releases leading toward his forthcoming third album, according to the supplied announcement.

Listeners can stream “Watching Over Me” here or listen on Spotify.

A Song About Love and Making Time

“Watching Over Me is a love song to an oak tree,” Tabatznik said in the release.

He describes the song as an exploration of loving someone while continually postponing time together—allowing that connection to exist in thoughts and daydreams rather than shared moments.

That idea connects with the nature-centered themes of his work. Raised in London and now based in South Africa’s Western Cape mountains, Tabatznik draws on his surroundings and spiritual exploration in his songwriting.

Acoustic Folk With an Expanding Arrangement

The release describes “Watching Over Me” as opening with restrained acoustic guitar and pedal steel beneath Tabatznik’s vocals.

Acoustic percussion enters as the chorus lifts, with a female vocalist joining him in a duet. The arrangement builds toward a final chorus layered with atmospheric guitars and acoustic textures.

Running nearly six minutes, the track is presented as a folk-rooted ballad for listeners drawn to artists such as Passenger, Cigarettes After Sex and Gregory Alan Isakov.

Building on ‘Awakening Embers’

According to his representatives, Tabatznik began his recording career in 2024 and has since accumulated more than 600,000 Spotify streams across his work.

The announcement also reports sold-out performances at Boschendal Estate in Cape Town and Green Note in London’s Camden.

His sophomore album, Awakening Embers, received coverage from NOTION, CLASH and EARMILK, according to the release. Electronic producer Deep Forest also remixed his track “Shining For Love.”

Tabatznik credits mentorship from Nick Mulvey and inspiration from guitar teacher Rainer Scheurenbrand as influences on his development.

With “Watching Over Me,” he brings those broader themes into a personal question: how often do we put off spending time with the people—and places—we love?
