PHOENIX — Phoenix residents will have a new way to reach public transit and local destinations beginning October 26, when the city launches PHXLink, an on-demand, shared ride transportation service.
The three-year pilot will operate in designated zones across north, west, and south Phoenix. Rides will cost $2, and passengers can request trips through the PHXLink mobile app or by phone.
The service will transport riders between designated pickup and drop-off locations within each zone. It is designed to improve connections to transit centers, light rail stations, RAPID commuter routes, and other local destinations.
“PHXLink allows Phoenix to explore new ways of connecting residents to public transit,” said Jesús Sapien, the city’s public transit director.
“By pairing flexible, on-demand service with our existing transit network, we can better understand where additional connections may be needed and how different public transit options can work together to serve our community.”
The city plans to use ridership data collected during the pilot to help guide future transit expansion and identify where additional connections may be needed.
PHXLink riders will also be able to connect with the I-17 RAPID and I-10 West RAPID routes. Expanded weekday service in both directions on those routes will provide additional options for commuters.
The pilot is part of Project EASE, short for Effective Access Solutions for Easing Congestion. The project is supported by a $12.9 million federal Congestion Relief Grant from the Federal Highway Administration, with partial funding through Phoenix’s Transportation 2050 program.
Residents can review service zone maps, learn more about the program, and access ride-booking information at Phoenix.gov/Link.
