Eight People Injured After Explosion Sparks Massive Fire and Partial Building Collapse in the Bronx

BRONX, N.Y. — A massive emergency response is underway in the Bronx after an explosion triggered a large fire and caused a partial building collapse, leaving at least eight people injured.

The incident occurred at 374 East 209th Street, where firefighters and police officers from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD) responded to reports of an explosion followed by heavy flames engulfing the building.

According to emergency officials, eight people have been injured. Five individuals suffered minor injuries, while two civilians were reported to be in critical condition. One firefighter also sustained moderate injuries while battling the blaze.

The fire response has continued to grow as crews work to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. Emergency personnel remain on scene conducting search operations, extinguishing hot spots, and assessing the structural integrity of the damaged building.

Officials are urging residents in the surrounding area to keep their windows closed due to smoke and airborne debris and to follow all instructions from first responders as emergency operations continue.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined what sparked the blast. Additional information is expected to be released as investigators examine the scene.

This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
