Breaking news out of Phoenix where multiple officer-involved shootings have been reported in the past 48 hours.
Authorities confirm that yesterday morning around 8 a.m., Phoenix Police confronted a man armed with a knife near South 7th Street and East Sunland Avenue. During the encounter, officers opened fire on the suspect. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Later that evening, another officer-involved shooting unfolded near 16th Street and Buckeye Road. Few details have been released, but police confirm it was the second incident of the day.
Community alerts also surfaced after reports of a possible shooting near 5447 South 5th Street. Witnesses described caution tape surrounding the scene, multiple police vehicles present, and a white canopy erected in the roadway. Evidence markers were visible on the ground, signaling an active investigation. The incident was first reported near Momo Park before the location was updated.
Law enforcement has not released information on whether the incidents are connected. Investigators remain on scene and are urging community members with information to come forward.
