“The story that the boys go on — the journey they take of sacrificing their integrity, their identity, their authenticity — that’s something I’ve been afraid of. I’ve walked that line for 30 years as an actor, though not as sensationally as these two characters do in the film. But it’s a journey I understood in my own way, so I could see myself in it.
Plus, I just don’t think there are enough Scottish films getting made, and so I’m glad that I managed to get one away.”
