Musical mystery Plain Mister Smith will be releasing his latest single ‘We were called the Foxx’ on October 24th via Amelia Recordings/Symphonic.  Following the sly and playful  ‘Miss Sunshine’, the track is the second of a string of singles to come from his upcoming album, set to drop in Spring, 2026.  Formerly the guitarist of the Canadian darkwave band Moev, the multi-hyphenate artist is also a cellist for the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the Plain Mister Smith moniker, his music has received support from a range of tastemaker publications including Wonderland Magazine, CLASH Magazine, NOTION, Under The Radar, Earmilk, METAL, Noctis Mag, Atwood Mag and more.

Based between Vancouver and London, Plain Mister Smith marches to the beat of his own drum, and is known for his ability to conjure up eclectic, indie-folk soundscapes with catchy and quick-witted lyricism, along with an air of introspection. ‘We Were Called The Foxx’ will ensnare fans of Tame Impala, Death Cab for Cutie, and The Beatles.

‘We Were Called The Foxx’ sees Plain Mister Smith delving into a haze of grim nostalgia, crafting a vivid portrait of childhood experimentation and misguided adventure. With The Cure-like guitar licks, a tight, in-the-pocket groove, and the lilting vocals of Findlay Brown, the track feels like the soundtrack to a coming-of-age film.

Plain Mister Smith told us: “‘The Foxx’ was my first band in grade 6 or so.  It was a bit of a sonic disaster – I don’t even think we knew we needed to tune our guitars. But you have to start somewhere/sometime! ‘We were called the Foxx’ is a testament to the crazy cacophonic shenanigans we got up to as pre-pubescent want-to-be rock gods.”
