Cleveland Halts Suns’ Momentum With 129–113 Win, Snaps Phoenix Four-Game Streak

The Phoenix Suns saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on December 31, 2025, falling 129–113 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland in the final game of their road trip. After battling back from an early deficit, Phoenix simply couldn’t withstand a massive third-quarter surge from the Cavs that ultimately decided the game.

Cleveland wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a double-digit lead behind crisp ball movement and hot shooting. Phoenix responded with resilience, tightening up defensively and chipping away at the margin behind the steady scoring of Devin Booker. The Suns managed to claw back into striking distance heading into halftime, appearing poised to make it a tight finish.

Instead, the Cavaliers delivered the knockout run.

Midway through the third quarter, Cleveland unleashed a decisive 24–5 run, swinging momentum completely in their favor. Phoenix struggled with turnovers and empty possessions during that stretch, while Cleveland capitalized in transition and from the perimeter. The Suns never fully recovered from the swing, trailing by as many as 20 before making a late push that ultimately came up short.

Donovan Mitchell led the way for Cleveland with a standout performance, pouring in 34 points and repeatedly punishing the Suns’ defense off the dribble and from beyond the arc. His shot-making fueled the Cavs’ third-quarter explosion and kept Phoenix at bay anytime they threatened a comeback.

For the Suns, Devin Booker turned in a strong effort, scoring efficiently and working to keep Phoenix within reach as the Cavs pulled away. But despite Booker’s production and stretches of competitive play, the Suns’ defensive lapses and the pivotal Cleveland run proved too much to overcome.

The loss closes out Phoenix’s road trip on a disappointing note but doesn’t erase the positive momentum built during their recent four-game winning streak. The Suns now return home looking to reset, regroup, and carry their December success into the new year.
