Not everyone’s path to success is what they dream of. Some don’t reach their goals until the latter half of their lives; some get lucky and catch fire immediately. However, the path for Kales Creative owner Kaleigh E. Reynolds was all about adapting.
In a recent interview questionnaire, when asked about starting Kales Creative, Reynolds said, “I didn’t originally set out to be a creative business owner. I was a neuroscience student on track for medical school when COVID flipped my world upside down.” Reynolds continued, “Everything I had planned for was suddenly gone. But in losing that path, I found something even more fulfilling: my love for arts, music, performance, and creative work.”
Reynolds’s background is filled with performance experience, including jobs as assistant band director at Washoe County School District and Singer, Actress, Graphic Designer, and Box Office Assistant at the Arts Express Theatre.
In chasing her dream of performing arts, Reynolds realized the expenses involved in marketing herself, so she took matters into her own hands by learning software such as Adobe and pursuing photography. Through her work helping others with photography or promotion, she realized she could create her future; through that realization, Kales Creative was born.
But many companies around the world help people promote themselves, so what makes Kales Creative different?
“I don’t just make things look good, I make sure they work,” said Reynolds, “My approach is holistic… everything ties together seamlessly, giving them a brand that doesn’t just exist. It thrives.“
In a field as challenging and competitive as Reynolds faces, she finds motivation through the things around her and not just what’s directly in front of her, “Inspiration is everywhere…I believe the world gives you answers if you’re paying attention.”
Reynolds’s story isn’t just her own, though. Through her journey and accomplishments, others who strive to follow a similar path can take notes and follow in her footsteps. Building a business isn’t easy, and you can’t rush success.
“Building a business takes time,” said Reynolds, “so does building confidence, refining your skills, and finding your network…I had to learn to be patient with myself, trust the process, and set realistic expectations. Burnout is real, and balance is key.“
While chasing the dream of creating a creative business can feel overwhelming, Reynolds doesn’t think that should discourage you, “Do it. Seriously. If you’re waiting for permission, this is it.”
If Reynolds’s journey sounds intriguing, you’re in luck because her journey is still ongoing. This year, Kales Creative is working to establish its creative agency in Tucson and Southern Arizona. Right now, they are working on launching its official website and have some photo collaborations coming up shortly!
