On Friday, June 16, 2023, the former head of state of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Senator Joseph Kabila Kabenge, made a media appearance at his Kingakati residence with his political coalitions, the FCC and PPRD, after years of silence.
Senator Joseph Kabila, in the eyes of his FCC and PPRD loyalists, evaluated the performance of his successor, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
In his statement, Joseph Kabila criticized the government of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and further stated that they have not respected the constitution of the republic.
Moreover, he mentioned that he and President Félix Tshisekedi have not been in contact since the separation of the FCC and CACH. This statement has sparked a great deal of discussion in the press and among thousands of politicians from the Sacred Union of the Nation, particularly because it was made during a time when the Congolese people are heading towards elections.
