Travis McMichael, Man Who Fatally Shot Ahmaud Arbery Sentenced To Life In Prison For Federal Hate Crimes

Travis McMichael, one of the white men who murdered Ahmaud Arbery, was sentenced to life in prison for federal hate crimes.

He is already serving life on state murder charges. Travis asked the judge to be moved from state prison because he claims he was receiving death threats for killing Ahmaud Arbery.

A federal judge denies Travis McMichael’s request for a transfer to federal custody. She says she doesn’t have the power to do so because the state brought charges, convicted, and sentenced first.

Travis’ father, Greg McMichael, and their neighbor, William Bryan, also are scheduled to be sentenced. The three men are already serving a life sentence for murder on state charges.
