'Ted Lasso' star Jason Sudeikis reveals he got game-day fashion advice from Jim Harbaugh – Detroit Free Press

Coaches of major sports, like Ted Lasso and Jim Harbaugh, stick together.

Jason Sudeikis, the star of the Emmy-winning hit on AppleTV+, revealed on Thursday’s episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers” that he turned to the University of Michigan football coach for advice on the show.

Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Brendan Hunt (coach Beard), and Nick Mohammed (Nathan) star in Apple TV+ series "Ted Lasso."

Specifically on what Ted Lasso, an American who coaches the British soccer team AFC Richmond, should wear on game days.

Sudeikis told Meyers what he asked Harbaugh: “Hey, what do you wear on game days? … Do you bring, like, a little duffel bag?”

“No, I just show up in khakis and a sweatshirt,” Harbaugh replied. So Sudeikis decided to keep Lasso’s outfits casual.

Added Sudeikis of consulting with Harbaugh, “I feel like there’s part of him that feels ownership over the character.”

Sudeikis got to know Harbaugh through “Detroiters,” the 2017-18 Comedy Central sitcom set and made in the Motor City.

Harbaugh guested on the series, which was executive produced by Sudeikis and Joe Kelly, two of the creators of “Ted Lasso. The U-M coach played himself having a meltdown at a charity event (and gave a pretty convincing performance).

The second season finale of “Ted Lasso” arrived Friday on AppleTV+. The Michigan-Nebraska game takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
