With Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel, set to premiere in just under a week, Disney has released a new documentary short preparing fans for what to expect.
Titled A Fan’s Guide to Ms. Marvel, the short is available now on Disney+, and takes audience members through an exclusive look at the upcoming series. The short details the history of Ms. Marvel, starting back with its comic book roots and proceeding all the way through its development as a full series on Disney+. The short also features interviews with the filmmaking team behind the series, as well as its star, Ivan Vellani.

Ms. Marvel stars newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, marking the live-action debut of the fan-favorite Marvel character. Joining Vellani are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
“The series introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City,” reads the official synopsis. “An aspiring artist, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she is a huge fan of the Avengers—and one in particular, Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.”
Ms. Marvel is directed by executive producers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with executive producer Bisha K. Ali serving as head writer.
Following the series, Vellani’s teen hero will next be seen in Nia DaCosta’s Captain Marvel sequel, titled The Marvels, starring opposite Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris, which is currently set for a July 28, 2023 release.
