Doc Rivers to journalist: “I think I do a terrific job and if you don’t, then you should write it”

The season ended for the 76ers as they were defeated by the Heat in Game 6 of the second round series (99-90). Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia in scoring with 20 points each. James Harden disappeared in this game and scored just 11 points in 43 minutes of play.

The Sixers will now start planning for next year and one of the subjects to be discussed is the future of the head coach Doc Rivers. He was asked directly during a postgame press conference if he feels secure about his position. The former NBA champion appeared to be a little irritated in his response.

“I don’t worry about my job,” Rivers began his rant. “What I think I do a terrific job and if you don’t, then you should write it. Because I work my butt off to get this team here.

“When I first got here, no one picked us to be anywhere. And again this year – the same thing. If that’s how anyone feels, write it. I’m gonna feel secure about it.

“It is [a results-based business], but you don’t do it every year. Every time you’re wrong, should you lose your job? No. So, it’s the same thing, alright? Listen, if you believe it, then go with it. I knew what I did this year and I feel very good about it.”
