Biden climate chief Gina McCarthy to leave White House

Top White House domestic climate adviser Gina McCarthy will step down on September 16, weeks after President Joe Biden signed the largest-ever U.S. law aimed at countering the dangers of a warming planet, according to two sources familiar with her plans.

Her departure had been expected for months. It comes as the administration moves on to the next phase of Biden’s climate agenda — implementing the new law and its $369 billion in investments in clean energy.
